WORCESTER

what to do | where to stay | where to eat | services | home

There is an undiscovered magic to this lovely town and district that will keep you guessing as to why you never explored it sooner…

Worcester is surrounded by the Brandwacht, Overhex and Langeberg Mountains. The Breede and Hex Rivers flow on either side of the town, although the Hex River often runs dry at the end of the long hot summer.

Worcester is the most centrally situated town in the Breede Valley. Exciting places can be seen within less than an hours drive. Wine farms with really outstanding quality wines can be visited.

The Olof Berg Solera Cellar, at Goudini, is also in the Worcester region. Small but prolific, it accommodates 22 Woudberg copper pot stills, similar to those used in Cognac, France, for the distillation of high quality colombar wines. It is the only cellar in South Africa to practice the famous Spanish Solera method of maturation and blending.

Worcester was laid out according to a definite plan with parallel streets. This enables the visitor to take an easy walk through town and visit some prime examples of early architecture.

Discover the true meaning of value for money when visiting this gem of the Breede Valley. Visit the Western Cape’s undiscovered world of wonders.
