Barely four kilometers east of Joubertina, the tranquil little town of Twee Riviere nestles below the Tsitsikamma Mountains. This picturesque little village is criss-crossed by an ingenious, old world aqueduct system via which sweet mountain water is conveyed to every homestead. From 1752 onwards, Twee Riviere gradually took form as the expanding centre of a thriving farm, giving rise to the present-day town’s arrangement of homes, barns and paddocks. Today, these unassuming properties have become cherished, and the kindly little town has become somewhat of a beacon for families seeking gentler, more wholesome surroundings. This town’s best kept secret might well be The Belfry Kitchen Coffee Café - a hidden gem – boasting what must surely be the finest ladies’ room on the route! The Langkloof is one of the most scenic sections of Route 62, with a backdrop of mountains, valleys and waterfalls. The peacefulness and rural qualities of the area make it a wonderful place to just relax in and breathe in the fresh country air. If visitors would like to do more than just relax, there are plenty of activities to choose from. The nearby Prince Alfred’s Pass to Knysna offers a scenic daytime drive. The road stretches from Die Kruin (1 050m above sea level), and runs against the mountainside with many sharp bends. It is best to drive slowly on this pass! Amidst the tranquillity there is still room for adventure. From hiking trails to quad-biking, to 4x4 routes and abseiling in the Kouga Mountains. Hiking in Peak Formosa, the highest tip of the Tsitsikamma mountain range, is definitely a highlight. The area also falls within the Cape Floral Region and unique fynbos occurs here. The Honeybush, well known for its health benefits, specifically occurs within the Langkloof area. Honeybush products can include teas and other drinks.
