Our raised location offers a spectacular view across the valley and is abundant with indigenous fauna, flora and birdlife on its 3.5 hectares of unspoilt land. One is totally lost for words when trying to describe the feeling of contentment in sitting, at sunset, on the terrace overlooking the Schoemanshoek Valley. Especially if this rare experience is accompanied by a glass of good South African red wine recommended by your knowledgeable hosts, JP and Marojéan. Although the atmosphere at Rooderandt lends itself to relaxing in good company and interesting conversations, the cottages offer the ideal "hide-away" conducive to relaxation and a bit of soul-searching. Another of the major advantages of staying at Rooderandt Hillside Lodge is the fact that it is situated on the route to many the major of attractions of the area eg: The world famous Cango Caves, Ostrich Show Farms, Wildlife Farms and a vast number of other tourist attractions. The House is a trove of African culture – stylishly decorated with attention to detail, furnished throughout with genuine antiques, complimenting a true South African atmosphere. Here décor is character, stretching far back into history with its poplar beam reed ceilings, an original 1897 Bolinder cast iron stove and the manor's imposing front door, originally from a 17th century hunting lodge of Simon van der Stel.
