The Gedenkskool der Hugenoten was erected at Kleinbosch and opened its doors in 1882 On the school benches sat friends and neighbours Abraham Izak Perold, founder of the KWV and developer of pinotage, AG Visser, revered Afrikaans poet, D F Malherbe, poet and writer who grew up in the Malherbe-huis and many more giants in the South African history. The First Afrikaans Newspaper (The Patriot) and the first 80 Afrikaans books was printed here.
